AnimeBoston was such a spur of the moment discussion for me. I wanted to go this year so badly, but still was apprehensive after having a bad experience with the convention in the past. But after hearing that they were premiering the english dub to my current obsession, Attack on Titan, plus that JAM Project was preforming…I really could not pass up on the opportunity. This marked my second time venturing up to Boston for this convention. I had not been in a few years, but think this was a nice return to this con.
Lets move to the Dealers Room….One thing I always loved about the dealer's room of Anime Boston is how big it is. It is pretty much two giant rooms connected together. If you are looking for something you have a fairly good chance of finding it, plus finding it somewhere else (Possible for cheaper even). It's definitely worth visiting for the full three days of the convention.
The Artist Alley is always very nice and filled with talented artist. The size of it seemed to have grown since I last visited the con.Which I love, it gives more talented artist a chance to show and sell their work.
As far as programming goes, we did not get to experience too many panels. We did however go to the JAM Project Q&A panel. It was so fun and quite informative too. I went into the panel not knowing much about them, other then the songs they sang for various anime. It made me even more excited for the concert later that night.
After the JAM Project panel, came the Attack on Titan premiere. Now I might be biased here, seeing as how I'm a rather big fan of the series. But the dub was excellent! And you can tell the entire cast is so excited to be apart of this series! And being able to sit in the huge room with other fans who were just as excited as the cast, was a truly awesome experience.
Our night ended with the JAM Project concert. Wow….just wow! They did not disappoint in the slightest! It was fun, entertaining and just amazing! And the best part was, you can tell they were having so much fun! I don't think any of them stopped moving at all while they were on stage. It was so amazing to see many of I couldn't think of a better way to end our day…well night. (As a One Piece fan seeing "We Are" live…how can you not love that!)
Anime Boston redeemed itself for me this year. I had such a great time. It's only half way through my convention season and I can safely say this was one of the best cons of the year, even though I only attended one day, it still was great!
