This event was held in Fairmont Park Philadelphia, PA on Sunday April 15, 2012 at the Horticulture Center. This festival is held annually in celebration of a month long Sakura Festival. The Japanese Society of Philadelphia and Subaru sponsor this fun little event every year in conjunction with the number of other events that are held throughout the Philadelphia area through the month of April.
One thing I love about this event is that it is pet friendly and even encourages you to bring along your four legged friend to participate in the "Prettiest Pooch in Pink" contest sponsored by the Philadelphia ASPCA. My little Yorkie, Lilo, accompanied me to this event and I was just over joyed at how pet friendly this event is.
A Cosplay Fashion show was held later in the afternoon sponsored by Zenkaikon. Any cosplayer in attendance was invited to join the fashion show which was not much a masquerade or contest as it was just an opportunity for cosplayers to get on stage and show off their handy work.
There were a number of performances and demonstrations held throughout the day on the main stage that always seemed to have a constant crowd around it.
If you live in the Philadelphia area and are looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon, check this event out. It's worth the small $5 donation to attend for a nice day in the park.
