Ahh Otakon….Almost all cosplayers I've met throughout the years have ventured down to Baltimore for the biggest convention on the east cast.. This marked my fifth year going down. The convention always manages to pack the schedule with big name voice actors, great panels and premiers.
One thing I did admire that Otakon did was put a "Official Photoshoot/Gathering Schedule together." Having planned gatherings at Otakon in the past it is SUPER frustrating trying to find a good place, at a good time that is free. So that was very good for them to do, or so I feel. Kept everything in order, and running smoothly.
One thing I do have to complain about and it is a given with Otakon is the crowds! It is SUPER crowded, even with the cap they placed on it this year. But the staff did a great job with the traffic in heavily traveled areas. So once again, kudos to the Otakon staff!
Dealers room and artist alley were as always very good, when you were able to get in. Few times I tried to venture down the dealers room was closed due to a being filled to capacity. Understandable, it's a fire hazard. Frustrating but understandable. Once you did manage to get in, it was very impressive. Big cons like this draw in many dealers where you can fine almost anything you are looking for! Artist Alley was just as good too. Always filled with so many talented artist!
So Otakon was indeed Otakon. A lot of flaws, that I again must applaud the staff for handling things so well. The crowds were…well the crowds, can't do anything about those. I'd be interested to see how the crowds are once the convention moved down to Washington DC in a few years. I'll be sure to attend again then.
